Warm-Up 1


This is the post to which you add your Warm-Up 1 task as a Comment (i.e. click on the Comment button below). When you add your Comment, don't forget to write your name on the post! You'd be amazed how much detective work I sometimes have to do to find out who actually wrote the comment!

Warm-Up 1 asks you to write a personal presentation for a web site. This is a general message that goes out to everyone who visits the web site of the new company you've just got a job with. I.e. it needs to be informative, but a bit general - and a good piece of advertising for your new employer. In other words, you need to show how smart your new employer is for hiring you!

You'll find a couple of useful links on the Warm-Up 1 page: one from the 'How to Do Things' site with some general advice, and an example of personal presentations from the Ericsson company.

You'll also find the 'Warm-Up 1 and Send-In 1' Podcast to be of help too.

When the Warm-Ups have all been marked and sent back (by me, David), I'll post a general comment in a post on this blog, with advice for everyone about Send-In Task 1.

    Hi everyone!
    After several years of work at multibillion companies, first as Event Manager at a newly built Hilton in London and then as a project manager at H&M in Stockholm I needed a new challenge.

    When I realized that your company was hiring new personnel I never hesitated. I had heard and read so much about the projects you have done and your vision about being the best goes hand in hand with my view on life.

    I am a “doer” and even though I have got the best possible education and un-valuable experience from my former employers I have always had a desire of helping to build a company from the ground. I want to find a place where I can settle down and when I’m 65 I want to look back and feel I’ve been a part of the business development.

    Since those are my goals I assume you understand that I have had very high demands on a employer before I am joining anything – after only a few days here I am confident your company is that company, the company I will work with for the rest of my working life.

    I work very hard to get what I want. I love high pressure and to get things done, but not without a smile on my face. No matter how tough your life is, smile at it and your life will smile back have always been my motto.

    I am very excited about the potential I see in this co-operation and can not wait to get started.

    Qualification: Degree in Project Management specializing in tourism


    One of our biggest projects right now is to create an attractive resort in Västervik which is a long term project. I have a great experience in both planning and running projects, I studied Project Management specializing in tourism at Harvard University in England. My knowledge in E-Marketing and Human Resources will help Västerviks Experience to achieve its goal, to turn Västervik into one of the major tourism centers in Sweden.

    After I took my degree at Harvard university in 2007, I moved to Sweden where I am originally from. I started to work for the the amusement park Liseberg which is Scandinavia's leading tourism attraction. I was the manager for the project and development department and I worked there for five years. This gave me great experience of managing several projects simultaneously.

  5. Påryd Projektering AB Welcomes New Business Manager

    My name is Nathan Jones and I am very happy to be the newest member of the Påryd Projektering AB team. After graduating from Northern Arizona University with a bachelor’s degree in finance, I continued my studies at Stanford University where I received my MBA. I then began my career with Ford Motor Company as a regional manager. I was responsible for the central Arizona region. This was a challenging but rewarding experience. During this time, my team and I were able to increase the region’s revenue by 14 percent. Desiring a new challenge, I then accepted a position with IKEA in Älmhult, Sweden. I was responsible for contact between the head office located in Älmhult and the American distributors. It was my responsibility to ensure that all shipments were received on time and that all orders were complete and delivered in good condition. During my time there, I helped to streamline the logistics flow and my team and I reduced the number of lost/incomplete shipments by 8 percent.

    I look forward to continuing my career here at Påryd Projektering AB as the new business manager. It is my goal to help the company reach its full potential and become a market leader in the Kalmar area by ensuring that current and future contracts are handled professionally and successfully.

  6. Thomas Miller appointed CEO of The Västervik Experience

    After graduating in Politics and Organization, Thomas Miller worked in Ghana for the United Nations' World Tourism Organization helping to build up a competitive tourism sector. While fighting corruption in Ghana, he gained his M.A. from The Open University in Modern Languages with distinction.

    Still in quest for new challenges he worked as a freelance consultant in the field of tourism and corruption, with a strong focus on startup companies. In this way, he took part in some of the most successful company foundations, such as the South African Tourism Radio Partners.

    After several years of intercultural working experience mainly in the southern hemisphere Thomas Miller has now been drawn to the North and will enrich and promote Västervik Experience. Thanks to his intensive previous cooperations with various EU bodies, he will be able to strengthen Västervik's position as a major tourism location within Europe.

    At least equally important, he will focus his efforts on the expansion of collaborations with our Chinese partners. As a delighted foreign language learner who is currently perfecting his Mandarin he will be a great addition to our team.

  7. My name is Lina Lindfors, I was born in 1983 and I am the latest to join the company behind The Västervik Experience. I will be working as a supervisor at the accommodation and rental department.

    As for my background, I am a former real estate agent and prior joining The Västervik Experience, I worked with the presentation and marketing of high class accommodations for several years. I think that my personal knowledge and knowhow of the real estate business will come very handy as a supervisor for the department, meaning that our existing and prospecting clients will offer and have an even better holiday experience.

    My goal is that all clients who decide to rent accommodations through The Västervik Experience get the very best in housing and feel as if they have brought their own dream home with them to their holiday destination.

    I am very proud to have joined the existing team of professionals at The Västervik Experience and I am confident that we will have a thriving season to look forward to.

  8. My name is Birgitta Gärdin and it is with great enthusiasm that I have joined my new job at Påryd Projektering AB. Below, I’ll give you a short presentation of myself, my experiences and what my main goals will be in the near future.

    My job experiences:
    2006-2012: Worked with EU-funding and research projects at a small university in Stockholm with a lot of international connections,
    1998-2006: Started at a Finance department for a Swedish company in logistics 1998. The company was in 2002 sold to a listed American group.
    1988-1998: Worked as a consultant mainly with financial matters for a lot of small and middle-sized companies in Stockholm Area.

    Education:
    1985-1988: Studied Economics at Umeå University. Have a Bachelor degree in Business Economics.

    Personality: Responsive, energetic, collaborative, and solution-oriented (sometimes near persistence).

    Family: Husband, a 17-year-old son and a 19-year-old daughter.

    Living situation: will soon move to a house outside Västervik.

    Interests: Family, out-door activities as hiking, owe a motorboat and looking forward to enjoy the archipelago around Västervik.

    My main goal in the near future is of course to be part of building up a long-term partnership with the Chinese investors. It’s also crucial that the cooperation between the local companies work smoothly. Due to my experiences, I’m sure I will be able to help find both financial and other solutions in different situations and it is with great pleasure and expectations I’m looking forward to my new job.

  9. Vienna Islak is a business manager with many years’ experience. Vienna Islak gained a 2:1 Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Columbia University, New York. After finishing her studies in 2002, she attended a trainee ship at Ernst & Young UK. Further on, she gained a 2:1 Master degree studying part time at Metropolitan University in London. Following her studies, Vienna achieved successful business improvements by consulting companies in the following fields of business: accounting, tax and production. She attended several trainings and seminars concerning these specific fields.
    In 2008 she operated her own successful business and gained a large experience in international relations, especially with businesses in China.
    Beyond her educational skills she obtained a high understanding of customer care responsibility, creative thinking, planning, relationship building, communication and determining customer- specific insight needs.
    Vienna has recently worked on a merger between two well known Swedish engineering companies and she is looking forward to taking over new responsibilities at Påryd Projektering HB.
    Vienna lives in Stockholm with her husband. She is keen on dancing and enjoys to travel and experience different kinds of culture.

    Education:
    At present I am finishing the education at Belarusian State University, the Department of Information and Communications. I specialize in Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing and Social Studies.

    Experience:
    I took part in the distance course "Effective Communication", where, using the tools of PR and Advertising, I created the project in social sphere.
    Also I was an active participant of PR Contests (PRemia and PR-kvietka), where I designed the PR-projects to promote the touristic firms.
    I have an experience of Social Studies (I had a practice in Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus).
    I am active in scientific work and often take part in conferences. The last works are connected with PR in the field of touristic business (including the creation of image of touristic firms).

    Personal characteristics:
    I am a sociable, stress-resistant and creative person. Also I have a sense of humour, which is necessary in my creative job.

    I am currently studying “Tourism and Leisure Management“ at the “IMC University of Applied Sciences” in Krems, Austria, and am also the marketing manager of “The Västervik Experience”.

     Additional Qualification

    During my free time, I never let an opportunity pass to expand my knowledge and therefore did the Entrepreneur’s Skills Certificate (Modules A-C) and the CAE (Cambridge in Advanced English).

     Language Skills

    My native language is German and I speak English fluently. At my university, I have the unique opportunity to study both Russian and Chinese. Having been to a language oriented primary and high school, I also studied French and Latin. During my exchange semester in Kalmar, Sweden, I also took two Swedish courses worth 15 ECTS points. I am hoping to broaden my horizon by learning other languages as well.

     Other Information

    When I was eight years old, I started doing an Austrian martial arts form. I have already participated in various tournaments, inter alia the ISKA Kickboxing World Championships 2010, where I came in second.

  12. Javier Cabo García was born in 1992, Madrid (Spain). After finishing his school period he decided to study ``Tourism Management degree´´ in the University of Surrey (England). During this period of his life, he acquired abilities to evaluate the relationship between costumers and the providers of the tourism service, the ability to analyze tourism in the communities it affects and, of course, English language.

    He got his first work experience at the age of 17 as a hotel receptionist in Gandía (Valencia) during the summer time. After finishing the University, he was hired as a reception manager for the most prestigious hotel in Andorra La Vella. He learnt how to speak Catalá and French language specially needed for gaining customers looking for ski vacations during the winter time. This situation allows him getting an understanding of international tourism.

    Nowadays, Javier Cabo is very interested in the touristic growth in Sweden. He has a special vocation for ``The Västervik Experience´´. Personally, he is sociable and team worker. He is good at problem solving with communication skills. ``People who care people´´ is his own motto. He expects much of people and knows they can do their best to get their own purposes. Being hired for the Västervik Experience is his only cause of concern.

    Born 1988. Master of Arts in Economics and Law with specialisation in Auditing, Finance and Taxation, Carl von Ossietzky University, Germany and Linnaeus University, Sweden. Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics, Carl von Ossietzky University, Germany.

    While working for an international student organisation as an active part of the Board Committee, she gained initial project management skills when leading a team and organising large scale events.
    Furthermore Jennifer has gained extensive experience, through internships with Golomt Bank in Mongolia and CeWe Color in Germany, and with this international experience, she is going to bring Påryd Projektering to new heights and triumphs.

    Jennifer is a highly motivated, creative and analytic thinking individual with a big ambition to become an active partner of our steadily growing company.

    Outside of work, Jennifer mostly enjoys spending time with her family. Since she was 10 years old, she counts athletics, especially volleyball as her favourite leisure activities and practices them quite successfully.

  15. We are proud to welcome our new co-worker Viyan Schwech. She is employed as an Marketing Engineer from 1 september and following is a brief presentation from her.

    I have been working in larger companies in Sweden, recently at ITT Flygt, and mainly with different kinds of questions in marketing and engineering. When this opportunity came along, working in a smaller company with close relationships and quick decisions, I did not hesitate to take on the assignment. I have long experiece of similar missions, working with subcontractors from different countries, including China and is really looking forward bringing new ideas to Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad AB.

    Furthermore, I took my Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at KLT (Kungliga Tekniska Högskola) in Stockholm. As I was interested in Marketing too, I took courses in that subject besides my education. After my studies I was employeed at Sandvik AB, mostley working as an engineer developing mechanical machines and with technical solutions. After working there for four years, I wanted to expand my knowledge in Marketing, wanted a combination of both. ITT Flygt in Emmaboda was searching for an Marketing Engineer and I decided to apply for it and got the job. Now after six years I felt I needed a new challenge and the opportunity came along with Alsjöholm.
    I will do my best using all my knowledge and experience to make Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad AB to modernise and become one of the best in their field.

  16. I would like to introduce myself as the new Business Manager of Påryd Projektering AB. My name is Rebecca Blair and I look forward to working with you.

    I believe that this company has immense potential, and I am convinced I can contribute to the growth and development that is already in process.

    I earned a Bachelor’s Degree with Specialization in Management at the European School of Economics in New York, which gave me a lot of useful tools to do what I want in life. I realized at an early age that I am a natural leader, which is why I have chosen this path. I grasped this at first when I was in junior high school. I was (and still am) very interested in sports and I have played everything from soccer to tennis. In my school team’s I was always chosen to be the Team Leader, and I continuously enjoyed it! That settled in to other aspects of my everyday life.

    When Påryd Projektering offered me the role as Business Manager, I instantly felt that it was the right job for me. Especially since I have travelled a lot and spent a lot of time working in Asia, so I really feel that I have the cultural understanding that is necessary in the type of projects that Påryd Projektering do.

    The Västervik Experience’s new Chief of Communication.

    The new Chief of Communications, Sandra Petersson is our latest addition to the company and we are very happy to have her. The task ahead of her is to lead The Västervik Experience from where we are today, to the top of our field. The tools and knowledge about communication that she can provide, are completely new to us and we are excited to see what she can accomplish. This new approach will be a step in the right direction.

    Sandra has a solid background in the field of communication and it all began in her hometown of southern Sweden where she studied at Lund University. During three years she studied strategic communication at the school and coped with an internship at the same time.

    With her sharp retorical proficiency and pragmatic sence for work, we know she will be a success to this company. No issue is to stressful or to big to overcome to this young swedish lady.

    Sandra describes herself as a positive and creative spirit who knows when to get serious. (Even though she prefers to relax with a paintbrush in her hand at a rainy Sunday afternoon with some music from In flames on Spotify).

    Born 1990. Bachelor of Science at the University of Lund, Sweden. Major: Service Management with emphasis on tourism.

    Ms Levander have good insights of how to organize and control an organization in a rapidly changing environment of the service industry. Place Marketing was a part of her education and with a project of developing Pernu, Estonia she can afford good experience for developing Västervik. Some other projects that Ms Levander have finished in the Region of Skåne, Sweden, are within nature tourism and others projects more specified within hotels about the personnel, quality and environment. With this great experience of managing different projects, at her age, we are happy to give her the opportunity to lead the project of developing Västervik as a destination.

    The main goal of Ms Levanders project here, is to create a place where all of the participants are linked together for a more interesting and available destination. The Service Industry has always been the right thing for her and she says that a good team work is very important and she thrives when caring, enthusiasm and a lot of doing are all together. Ms Levander is working for making peoples experiences of the destination as good as possible and we are looking forward to see Västervik as a destination on the map.

  22. Shizuka Kato: Business Manager of Påryd Projektering, member since 2012.

    She is a strange Business Manager from Japan. Her skilled Chinese-suited business styles are always new for you.

    What is her profession? She is specialized in Chinese finance. Since she studied about China and international relations, she took part in “Japan-China Student Conference 2011”. In there, she discussed diplomacy between two countries. She got undergraduate degree at Chuo university, Japan and studied abroad for a year at Linnaeus University, Sweden.

    Even though she studied finance, she was good at marketing from her experience. In her junior period in university, she founded “English News Paper Association of Chuo University” and got 1000 access on the web per week. It became their only one student-based English newspaper association in her university.

    Her work field is not only for China. She can work globally from the language aspects. She is good at speaking English and Chinese. Also she knows some French and Finnish. Of course her mother language, Japanese, too.

    Hope she’ll do her best on her career here at Påryd Projektering AB as the new business manager.

    Born in 1983. Hamburg.
    Education and Qualification:
    After finishing her school in 2003 Diana decided to go abroad for 2 years. During her stay in a small town in the United States she participated in several courses of Economics and Law. She also took an internship in New York City in a consulting firm where she achieved knowledge of principles and processes for providing professional customer service. In 2005 Diana returned to Germany and continued her studies in economics. In 2008 she finished her degree in Project Management.
    2005: Bachelor of Science in Socioeconomics at Hamburg University, Germany.
    2008: Master of Science in Project Management at Liverpool University United Kingdom.
    Work experience:
    While studying in Hamburg Diana started working in a coworking space known as betahaus hamburg GmbH & Co. KG. Coworking is a term for emerging forms of working and collaboration that take place in open, digitally connected and collaborative workspaces. There she was responsible for organizing and managing projects, coordinating the community activities such as events, facilitating networking among the customers, managing the betahaus’ café as well as the administration.

    My name is Kiryl Shantyka and I am much honored to introduce myself as the newly appointed General Manager of Google Belarus.

    Born: 1973 in Santa Barbara, CA

    Education: Mr. Johnson attended UCSB where he achieve his bachelor in marketing and later on he attended UCLA and California institute of technology where he achieve his PHD in engineering.

    Mr. Johnson has worked for several companies with both marketing and engineering, for example Samsung, Volvo, and Air France. Through his work experience and general knowledge about marketing, Alsjöholmens Mekaniska verkstad AB is glad that he decided to join our company.

    Candidate for Project manager

    My name is Laura Giménez. I have studied Business Management in ICHEC Brussels Management University. Then, coming back to my native country, Sweden, I have also studied a degree on Psychology, specialized in Business Psychology, at Linnaneus University.

    As for my job experience, It started while I was studying. I worked in my own family business, a cute and modest hotel in Kalmar. There I acquired experience when dealing with local people. When my studies at University were finished, I moved to Malmo with a contract in a big company. I spent seven years in the Human Resources department of this company. After that, I got a better position on a Chinese company in Malmo. As my position was located in the International department, I got a lot of changes of traveling to China. By travelling I got to know Chinese culture and the differences between Western and Easter when doing business.

    About my personal characteristics working, I would want to say that I am a very hard working person. I feel comfortable working in a team if all the efforts are coordinate in the same direction.

    As a conclusion, I strongly believe that I could do a satisfactory job helping to conciliate Swedish local companies with Chinese investors. I am enthusiasm with this project and I am looking forward to working on it.

  29. The Vastervik Experience

    Ana Sánchez Martín was born in 1980. She did her studies of Tourism in Sullivan County Community College, in United States of America. She has just started a master in the University of Barcelona called Event Management. While she was studying her bachelor, she started to work in a tourism agency in New York. After finishing her studies of bachelor, she promoted in her job and she had to be in charge of the main aspects of the tourism agency.

    Related to personal skills, Ana is a very communicative person and she is also a good leader. As an important part of Tourism, she is very creative and sociable.
    As another important skill, she can speak four languages; Spanish, English, French and German, due to the fact that she has lived in France and Germany and that she is from Spain.

    Right now, her main goal is to participate in the Vastervik Experience, as she considers it as a great opportunity to develop her career in Tourism and it constitutes a professional challenge for her.

    Påryd Projektering welcomes Linda Kim as a new Business Manager!

    Dear everyone !

    This is Linda Kim who was appointed as the Business Manager since this summer.
    First of all, I want to tell you how exciting it is to start working here!
    Since I read about the history of the company for about a year ago, I was fascinated by the company's drive and continuos growth.
    The company values, passion and care, were precisely the value that I endear so much. Even though it is not so long since I started working here, I am quite sure that I came to the right place.

    I worked as project manager in different IT projects in South Korean, after getting master degree in Industrial Engineering in Seoul University. I moved to Stockholm in 2005. I have since then continued working on different projects, mostly in big international companies in order to increase their market share and optimize cost in their asian markets. During my stay in Stockholm, I also achieved one of important goal in my life; my two lovely kids who are 6 and 3 years now. Most of my private time go to activities with my family.

    I am very focused, driven person with great attention on the quality of result.
    At the same time, I believe in constant improvement and flexible attitude for solving problems. I am looking forward to contribute to our business with my expertise in asian and Swedish companies.

    Hello everyone!
    My name is Denis and I want to introduce myself as the new Adviser and Promotion Expert of The Västervik Experience. I’m very proud of my new appointment. I was born at 1993 at Minsk,Belarus and could not even imagine that when I will be nineteen I would have such a wonderful work.

    As for my professional experience and education, I’m study at Belarusian State University, Faculty of Journalism. Also, I have finished some language courses and now I can speak Belarusian and Russian as mother-languages, English, a little bit French and Ukraine.

    Last four or five years I worked as a journalist and freelancer at different magazines, radio and web-sites. I have an experience at photojournalism and advertising. Also I have a big experience in different travels around the Europe and United States.

    So, I look forward to start my work and become a part of the Västervik Experience. Together we can do great things!

    Alia will be responsible for development of our large-scale projects such as Chinese investment project in Kalmar region.

    Alia, born in 1982, has an extensive experience at project management as she has been working for several years at the world-leading international Advertising, Marketing and PR Agency Ogilvy where Alia has been responsible for various initiatives in South-East Asia. She holds a masters degree in International Relations at St Petersburg University and after graduating the University she had an internship at World Bank Group headquarters in Washington. Alia speaks English, Swedish, Russian, French and she has recently started learning Chinese.

    Alia is energetic, highly motivated and result-oriented person who loves to tackle challenges. Given her vast experience and credentials we are sure that she will definitely be an asset to our company.

    Alia has moved to Kalmar for several months ago and in her free time she enjoys outdoor activities, jogging, yoga and learning languages.

    Born 1993, bachelor of Information and Communication, Belarusian State University, Minsk.

    2011 – started her career participating in organization of the biggest event in Belarusian marketing – International Advertising Festival White Square, where she studied the world of Advertising from the inside. After that she continued her work in the field of Advertising.

    Katerina Ivanova carried out a remarkable research on marketing strategies in educational sphere, while studying for a semester in University of Trnava, Slovak Republic. She also achieved important results studying Semiotics of Advertising and got published in several academic journals.

    Miss Ivanova is optimistic, willing to find common grounds with people and always thinks few steps ahead. In her professional area she is appreciated for her talent to ask right questions and get the most valuable answers.

    Alsjohölm Mekaniska verkstad welcomes our new marketing Engineer Hanna Axelsson.

    Hanna Axelsson has several years in the business working as Mechanical Engineer at an International company focusing in Research & Development (R&D). Working with R&D has given her great knowledge in the area of product development. Through close cooperation with marketing and sales in the aspect of developing and launching new product she has gained insight in the customer demands and developed relationships with customers in the local and international market.

    Ms. Axelsson has a degree in Mechanical Engineering focused on product development from Chalmers in Gothenburg. The high level of education combined with Ms. Axelssons earlier accomplishments will be useful since Ms. Axelsson in the role of new marketing Engineer will take the lead of bringing this company into new international relationships. She will mainly focus on what benefits that could be achieved entering the international market and developing new products to be able to meet future demands in the continuously changing market.

    Ms. Axelsson is born in Småland and understands and shares the values and traditions underlying entrepreneurship in Småland. When introducing Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad to the international market she will make sure that those values wouldn´t be lost.

    Education:
    Now I am the third year student of the Faculty of Journalism at Belarusian State University. My specialization is ‘international journalism’.

    Experience:
    I have started to write articles for newspapers four years ago. I had a practice in regional newspaper. Usually I write about cultural and youth life, social themes are my priority too.
    At this time I work on a radio “Belarus”. I chose especially this radio, because it broadcasts on the abroad. So this specific is in keeping with my specialization in university.
    Also I am a participant of different seminars at my faculty. For example, I took part in seminar devoted to cross-journalism. Received experience helps me to combine working in the radio and writing newspaper articles.
    I am interested in scientific work. My work is about stylistics of the Byelorussian language. I speak and work in this language as a rule. So it is very interesting and useful for me to carry out the research in this field.

    Personal characteristics:
    I think I am hardworking and single-minded. I hope these characteristics help me to become a personality in future.

  36. Wo shi, je suis, I am Anna Rehncrona who just joined The Västervik Experience. I will guide us through new opportunities and challenges ahead!

    I am originally from Skåne where I studied International Business Administration with French as main language at Lund University. I have studied and lived abroad in quite a few countries including France, China and the US. Through my international experiences I have developed a great understanding of different cultures and an ability to quickly establish valuable networks. These will be key success factors in promoting our future plans for Västervik. My in depth understanding of Chinese culture will be especially useful when working with the Chinese investment in our region.

    My background as a management consultant has equipped with me strong project management skills. I strive to exceed expectations and will reach goals in a timely manner. More recently I have worked as a Supplier Relationship Manager within Saab Aerosystems in Linköping. My ability to coordinate several tasks at the same time and my excellent negotiation skills will benefit us when expanding our local tourism industry.

    I am looking forward to working with the development of our city and surroundings!

  37. With remarkable communication skills and a great global interest, we proudly present Jaquline Elgh as our latest addition to the team at Påryd Projektering AB. Following is a brief presentation of who she is and some selected accomplishments from her career.

    Communicative, positive, responsible and efficient are words that describe me well. I have a great interest in traveling and meeting new people as well as helping others and take the lead. Already as a 13 year old, I was the president of several youth associations (equestrian) as well as I have been working during every vacation since I was 15 years old.

    I have great linguistic skills thanks to my Irish heritage along with my interest in languages; Swedish, English, Spanish and Italian. It has helped me to develop my communication skills which I've been depending on throughout life.

    2011 I arranged several meetings at the UN headquarters in New York City as we were going there with our class. I met with both country missions, the Red Cross and Human Rights Watch.

    2012 I was the Project Manager of a fundraising-project (including a visit) to an orphanage in Riga, Latvia.

    I enjoy the leading position because I am very structured, creative and collaborative. Even if I am not announced as a leader in a group, I automatically end up being the informal leader due to my creative and active approach.

    I think Påryd Projektering AB is the perfect place for me to use and develop my skills as well as it will help me gain experience on the global field of Business. I am convinced that we will benefit from each other!

  38. We would like to present our newest employee Susanne Nan at The Västervik Experience.

    I have studied various courses and programmes in economics, tourism, marketing and communication both abroad and in my home country Sweden. I have worked in tourist offices in both Örebro, my home town and in Stockholm. I have studied abroad for three years in different places such as New York, Paris, London and Madrid. I also worked a long my studies in both tourist offices, hotel receptionist for both small and big hotels and in retail shops.
    My native language is Swedish. During my time abroad I learned French and Spanish. During my time in London I took a Cambridge in CPE(Certificate of Proficiency in English)

    Last summer I took two months of from my studies and work and went to Africa, Botswana and worked there as a volunteer at a large orphanage farm. It was one of my best life experience and I recommend it to everybody who wants to give something back to the world.

    My passions are travelling, learning new things and meeting new people.

    As you can see from the little information about my life, I like travelling and different culture and people so when this opportunity came up to be a part of The Västervik Experience I couldn’t be more happier that I got this chance. I am really looking forward to be a part of this team and being able to bring my own ideas and experience to the project.

    Education:
    I finished the High School in 2008 in a Bilingual Institute, and I started two degrees the same year, Journalism and Media. I have been working in digital newspapers writing chronicles and interviews. I also like different cultures, that is why I studied one year of Japanese.

    Skills:
    I consider myself as a sociable person, I am always working in groups, using cameras and writing articles. I solve the problems quickly because I think that is the best way to continue working and not to focus just in one thing. I also grow up surrounded by technology, this is why I find what I want in Internet really fast, I think this is a useful skill because in this globalized world you have to be the first one who discover new things or broadcast new information.

    Personal Characteristics:
    I love travel and discover new cultures, I like cinema also, main reason of why study Media. I like to spend time with my friends talking about movies or journeys. I like to reach my goals, and my new one is to speak Japanese fluently.
